A couple weeks ago I tried a juice cleanse for the first time. Two friends of mine at our elementary school have a company called Refresh Meals so I thought it was a good excuse to try it. It was a crazy week though that I picked. It’s normally a 5 day cleanse but since I had two full days of filming scheduled that week I decided just to do it for 2 days. But that’s not how things ended up working out. Here’s how it went… (image) (more…) With Easter on its way I thought I’d share a quick recipe to make for Easter brunch. These danishes can be made in under 30 minutes and are really pretty and impressive for any brunch. They can also be customized with any of your favorite fruits! keep reading for the recipe… And if lemon blueberry is your thing you might want to try these Lemon Poppyseed Crepes with Blueberry Cream Cheese Filling too! Weekend Roundup I’m focused hard on prepping for our trip to Tokyo on Sunday. Eeek! At this point on my to-do list is organizing snacks, movies/games downloaded, reading material, and laundry. Oh, well there’s one big thing: Jared may have to stay here with Edie because his work’s been so crazy. So there’s that!! We’re still trying to figure it out. It would be super sad if he didn’t come, but it certainly would make things easier traveling without Edie. Anyway, if you have any last minute recommendations I’d love to hear them. We’ll be in Tokyo and Osaka/Kyoto. I’ll be slow on email the next two weeks but we have lots of great posts planned for you. Have a great one! Oh, and Henry sent a note to the Easter bunny a couple weeks ago to let him know we’ll be gone for Easter and to ‘please leave the goodies here’ for when we come back. Instead though, I think we’ll have the Easter bunny show up early this Sunday before we leave so we’re putting together some preparations for our baskets tonight. If you’re looking for Easter ideas, here are some great one from the archives: Decoupage Surprise Eggs, Pastel Meringue Kisses, and Perfect Polka Dot Easter Eggs Here are some links to explore: I just got Gabby’s Design Mom book in the mail today and it’s beautiful and amazing, full of such great advice for every room. It’s extensive, but not overly wordy with one really well thought-out piece of advice on every page and tons of gorgeous photos. Even if she wasn’t my sister in law I would still highly recommend it. Such a great gift for anyone with kids. Pre-order it right here (image above by Kendra and Seth Smoot) Love this gorgeous DIY lunch bags One of my very best friends, Kendra Smoot, did a lovely shoot + interview with Mother Mag. She’s brilliant and super stylish, there are so many great gems in this interview Awesome bobby pin ponytail trick Oooh this summer dress Gorgeous David Wellington watches (and use the code SAYYES to get 15% off through April 30th) How to pull off the cool ‘non-mom bob’ I think I’d live in this sweaterknit pencil dress (and hugely discounted) Love this purse for spring I love this honest instagram experiment 31 delicious things to cook in March. All of these look amazing for any month This tote seems so perfect if you’re in the market for one (love the navy the best) Smart idea: a lego gift box! Spring Trend to Try: Edgy Feminine Even though we don’t have really defined seasons here in San Francisco, every spring I get antsy to clean out my closet, revamp my wardrobe, and experiment with a few new trends. I’m partnering with Zappos to do exactly that, and I’ll be sharing a couple posts about it over the next few weeks. Today I’m sharing a fun way to pair edgy with feminine. Peeerfect timing because I just did something kind of crazy and got pastel pink highlights in my hair! A bright pink french braid is pretty much the definition of edgy feminine in my book. Keep reading for more details about this outfit + trend, and spring shopping with Zappos... (more…)
